At Crouse Hospital School of Nursing, our mission is to prepare the best professional nurse for the hospital and the community.
Our school was established in 1913, reflecting a long and proud tradition of educating professional nurses. With more than 4,500 graduates employed across the country, our school is recognized as a leader in nursing education.
Crouse Hospital School of Nursing is registered by the New York State Education Department, which is the administrative arm of the Board of Regents. This Board is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a national accrediting body for nursing education programs.
Students still find time to enjoy the rich, culturally diverse university environment offered by Syracuse University and SUNY Upstate Medical University. A bustling student shopping center is only a block away featuring: boutiques, novelty shops, a variety of restaurants, coffee shops and evening entertainment. Many times, Crouse nursing students participate in social activities on "the Hill" and interact with students from other campuses, including Syracuse University students.
All Crouse Hospital nursing students enjoy privileges at the SUNY Upstate Medical University Campus Activities Building, a hub of student recreational activity for the SUNY and Crouse campuses. Facilities include a gym, pool, sauna, exercise equipment, tennis courts, squash courts, pool tables, pinball machines, TV lounge, bookstore and coffee shops.
The Syracuse area is also home to an extensive park system, abundant shopping, popular cultural events (arts, blues and jazz festivals among them), a Triple A baseball stadium, the New York State Fair, and many other possibilities. Ample public transportation assures our students that the area’s urban, suburban and rural life is accessible.
