The Mission of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center School of Radiology is to offer to the community we serve, a quality educational program, in the Science of Radiologic Technology, whose purpose is to train competent Radiographers who will steadfastly practice radiation safety and quality patient care. We strive for excellence in health care in an atmosphere of support and shared ministry.

Our goal is to train graduates that meet the community’s needs for competent entry level radiographers that practice radiation safety, that demonstrate empathy for their patients and are committed to excellence in their profession.

The Saint Joseph’s Medical Center School of Radiology is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and licensed by the New York State Department of Health.

Radiologic technology is the art and science of utilizing radiation to produce diagnostic images of the tissues, bones, organs and vessels of the body to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Images may be recorded on film or viewed digitally on a video monitor. The radiographer is an essential member of the health care team and is responsible for producing quality diagnostic images through accurate positioning, radiation protection and quality patient care.

The Program consists of a selective curriculum designed to educate and train students in the art and science of diagnostic radiologic technology. The program is offered Monday through Friday over a 24 month period which is broken down between Junior and Senior level classes in both academic and clinical areas of study.

Mission Statement

Education in radiography is based on a specialized body of knowledge and skills which focus upon preparation of a specialized profession. The School assumes the responsibility of designing and implementing the curriculum in order to conduct a comprehensive program as specified by the NY State Dept. of Health, the ARRT, the Joint Review Committeeon Education in Radiologic Technology. The School establishes an educational environment whereby students will be simulated into a lifetime committment to learning and service while maintaining a sense of social, personal ethical and progressional responsibility. Alternatively, the students are expected to demonstrate the inititive, determination,consideration and responsibility needed to become outstanding Radiologic Technologist.
