Overview

Transdev North America is the largest private sector operator of multiple modes of transit in North America, providing bus, rail, paratransit, shuttle, sedan and taxi services. Working as part of the SF Transdev Paratransit management team, the Mobility Management Specialist (MMS) will work, on behalf of seniors and persons with disabilities, to develop a strategic approach to transit service coordination and customer service and seek to optimize transit resources while improving specialized transportation service options for this population. The MMS is responsible for identifying, coordinating & ultimately delivering service from a network of coordinated transportation services using a range of approaches. This MMS is also responsible for evaluating all current services and operations and enhancing, expanding and promoting coordination of these services and then developing, recommending and implementing a plan to best coordinate/deliver services so that resources are efficiently used and the community well served.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate shall possess the necessary skills and work experience to perform many transportation-related tasks including:

  • Identifying outreach opportunities in the older adult and disability communities then following-up with and scheduling transportation and mobility management presentations.
  • Possess and be capable of understanding mobility challenges typically associated with senior and disabled populations and have insight into possible solutions or options and be capable of clearly communicating and imparting this information to others
  • Must be able to understand complex travel challenges of others, synthesize that information and impart to decision makers so that solutions which can address those challenges/gaps can be crafted
  • Providing one-on-one travel training to individuals who are unfamiliar with the San Francisco public transportation system.
  • Assisting with or conducting transportation group orientation presentations focused on promoting group travel on public transit within the older adult community.
  • Coordinating and assisting with informational outreach efforts that promote use of accessible Free Muni services, various paratransit and non-paratransit shuttle services, make available information about ADA paratransit, promote taxi use in paratransit and promotes information sharing about the many available travel options in San Francisco.
  • Establishing and maintaining a database of multiple transportation services and providers in San Francisco that can be used by many including Muni 311, and SF Paratransit’s Customer Service and Eligibility departments.
  • Interacting with other agencies serving the community’s seniors and people with disabilities to learn more about transportation challenges faced by their participants and synthesizing that information to work with SF Paratransit and Muni senior staff to help forge workable options and solutions to those challenges.

Qualifications

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Some hands-on travel training experience
  • Experience working with seniors and people with a range of disabilities
  • Experience working with disability and/or community advocacy organizations, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills.
  • Strong and persuasive written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of urban/transportation, as well as a familiarity of San Francisco streets, neighborhoods, and politics.
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.

The Mobility Specialist will be the frontline contact at the Mobility Management department and will dedicate some time as determined by the Mobility Manager, both on-site and off-site (occasionally evening and weekend hours), providing information regarding travel options in San Francisco. This individual will possess professional communication skills and the ability to empathize and demonstrate sensitivity to the populations we serve.

This job requires frequently moving audio/visual equipment and presentation materials weighing up to 35 pounds to events across San Francisco.
