Job Summary:

Fujifilm SonoSite, a leader in the creation of point of care medical ultrasound devices.  As a Engineering Technician you will work with research and development to aid in the planning, designing, developing, implementing, and verifying electrical hardware in support of new product introductions.  As a member of the electrical engineering team they will provide electrical and mechanical support to the engineers.  This will include printed circuit board prototyping, rework, fixturing and testing, managing the EE lab space, test equipment maintenance and calibration, and documentation of tests, rework and assembly instructions.

This position will require a person who is, self-starting, self-motivated, and a problem-solving team player able to work with minimal supervision.  We will rely on their sound judgment, decision making qualities and forward thinking to rise to meet the challenges of this important work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform complex and detailed rework on printed circuit board assemblies
  • Designs and builds prototypes of planned product or equipment
  • Assists in the construction of products and equipment
  • Simple revisions of electrical schematics
  • Perform cycle and other testing
  • Inspects product design for problems or errors.
  • Runs tests on products and equipment to ensure they function properly
  • Analyzes system or product performance
  • Provides suggestions for ways to improve products and equipment
  • Addresses and resolves defects and problems with products
  • Help with general diagnostics and root cause finding
  • Generate simple technical documentation (rework and assembly instructions)
  • Maintains records and files of all completed engineering work
  • General maintenance on test equipment and engineering prototypes
  • Perform general procurement tasks
  • Orders and replaces equipment parts
  • Provides technical support to customers and employees
  • Ensures that all safety procedures are observed during laboratory work

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimimum of 5 years working as an engineering technician
  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology highly desired.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Have in depth experience in the troubleshooting of complex circuit boards
  • Have proven ability to perform board level rework by choosing and utilizing correct tools and methods
  • Fine pitch surface mount soldering skills (soldering iron 0402 by hand, hot air, ball grid rework station)
  • Experience in designing and fabricating moderately complex test fixtures desired
  • Moderate mechanical skills to support assembly and disassembly
  • Read and understand schematic diagrams and assembly/PCBA drawings
  • Familiarity with Altium, OrCad, PADS desired
  • Have full operational understanding of common bench test equipment
  • Able to multitask and implement effective time management
  • Possess a basic working knowledge of statistics
  • Experience in a government regulated environment is desired 
  • Is able to understand and interpret engineering terminology
  • Must be disciplined in following established procedures/processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Intermediate skills with MS Word and Power Point is desirable
  • Able to follow engineering directions with minimal supervision
  • Able to follow detail instructions
  • Exhibits familiarity with proper lab safety procedures
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, with or without accommodations.
