As part of a newly created Early Childhood Services program team, the Parent Coach/Family Concierge for Early Childhood Services is responsible for co-facilitating one on one and group curriculum and providing community resource navigation and parent coaching to guide parents to meet their needs through referrals and other advocacy efforts through the implementation of a Pilot Program including a new division team serving families of 0-3 age children.  Responsibilities include program implementation via videoconferencing and in-person intervention methods; development of community partners and resources; assisting with recruiting client cohorts; and program documentation.  The Early Childhood Services Pilot will provide education, prevention and early intervention programming and services to vulnerable families to ensure nurturing care and the grounding of early childhood protective factors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, or Human Development. 
  • Current unrestricted CA Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance
  • Work experience in early childhood development (prenatal to age 3) in early childhood education field providing direct service through in home visiting, clinic setting, early learning or family resource center.   
  • Working knowledge or direct delivery of early childhood home-visiting interventions and services. Knowledge of healthy fetal, infant, and toddler development; prenatal and child health requirements; and early childhood education best practice. 
  • Experience with strength-based and reflective coaching methods and strategies preferred. Experience with child care resources and providing individualistic referrals preferred.
  • Experience working with socioeconomically challenged, underserved, and multi-cultural communities.
  • Familiarity with community behavioral health systems of care, and resources for health, mental health, substance abuse, vocational, and housing services.
  • Solid decision-making, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Commitment to engaging in professional development trainings, continuing education seminars, and current literature reviews of treatment strategies for the client population.
  • Skills to assess and develop connections with community resources needed for families within specific neighborhoods. 
  • Solid proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft suite; Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to quickly learn record/data base systems required.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.  Ability to articulate and professionally communicate with staff, clients and other stakeholders.    
  • Ability to impart information to families both in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities and complete projects within specified timeframes.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as be flexible and dependable.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaborative teamwork with Early Childhood Social Worker, implement new pilot program interventions via videoconferencing and in-person methods.
  • Complete evidenced based curriculum model training of program intervention model and maintain team integrity to design and all updates required.
  • Implement model requirements and program protocols in accordance with program plan, implementation and compliance. 
  • Conduct the prenatal and postpartum home visits via videoconferencing or in home, in a manner that supports the purpose of the Early Childhood Program. Responsible for supporting families, conducting basic assessments and providing parent education in the areas of prenatal and postnatal care, parent-infant attachment, child development, home safety and other maternal and child health related topics.
  • Provide assistance with outreach and engagement of client base.  Identify client strengths and family needs. Provide and model empathetic support and feedback when working with new parents, babies and family members.
  • Provide regular touchpoint sessions with families to support healthy child development and reminders for health care visits at appropriate developmental timeframes throughout the prenatal to age 3 growth period.
  • Develop trusted and ongoing relationship with families and assist as needed to find services and supports that match their need, culture and values.  Provide community resource navigation, and guide parents to meet needs though referrals or other advocacy efforts.
  • Engage with client group cohort of up to 10 families, from the onset of service and assist with navigating community resources and connecting families in the particular community or neighborhood where the cohort lives. Identify needs, be a resource specialist and refer to the EC Clinician or other community or JFSLA programs for assessment or service as appropriate.
  • In addition to the concierge activities, the Parent Coach will offer families facilitated social supports that naturally develop around the cohort networks so that participants can nurture and support one another to further self sustain and create their own social communities. 
  • Development of community partners and resources in multiple community neighborhoods.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community-based organizations, and agencies in order to ensure operational needs and goals are met.
  • Perform tasks, and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner.  Maintain progress notes and
  • documentation as required.    
  • Other duties as assigned.
