Job Description

A large global bank is seeking a IT Disaster Recovery Lead to join their DR team sitting in Dorchester MA. This group is responsible for developing and managing the companies Disaster Recovery program. This individual will be working closely with IT groups, the business continuity group and stakeholders to manage and review test plans and coordinate the operational disaster recovery activities. We are looking for a dynamic and high performer who has a varied skill set and can feel comfortable being moved to multiple projects. We are not looking for a career DR resource. Instead, we are looking for an individual who has a broad background and understands IT infrastructure, application development, disaster recovery, business continuity and cyber. This individual will have the chance to potentially lead and mentor others, as well as be expected to deliver messages and present in front of executives. He or she needs to be able to think on their feet, have confidence to escalate issues when necessary, and be technical enough to recognize failures in process and operations. We would like this person to be able to give recommendations on best practices and process improvement within the DR space. This person should be a voice on standards and policies. Any background in project management or business analysis would be extremely helpful as well. Coming from small companies where the individual wears a lot of different hats is also helpful as opposed to a large company where the individual is siloed and focuses on one activity. This individual should be extremely flexible, able to take on new projects and eager and hungry to advance their career.

Work with business continuity planning team to understand and establish Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for critical business functions and related technology
Work with management to ensure that the disaster recovery (crisis management) and business continuity plans drive disaster recovery strategy and procedures
Coordinate with infrastructure team, application teams, vendors, and data center partners on the creation and maintenance of DR plans
Work with the IT technical staff to ensure the DR solutions security, integrity, and accessibility of data, databases, and information systems
Schedule and lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the disaster recovery exercises to validate the DR plan
Evaluate current processes and procedures for inefficiencies and make improvement recommendations
Work to identify, test and implement new technology or practices that would increase the efficiency of ITs ability to recover systems in the event of a disaster
Regularly report Disaster Recovery activities to management
Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices
Manage the administration, development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures related to disaster recovery
Establish and maintain detailed DR communications and command and control plans through a change management process
Provide ongoing feedback for risk management, mitigation, and prevention
Help ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working within Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Application Support, IT Infrastructure or Cyber Security
  • Understanding of DR principles, standards and policies and willingness to participate in coordination of DR activities
  • Skilled with Excel specifically V-lookup, writing formulas and able to provide data analysis
  • Experience taking business requirements, risk assessments and continuity planning and writing test cases
  • High performer, dynamic with the ability to lead
  • Great verbal and written communication, organized and independent

  • Finance and Banking industry experience
  • Bachelor degree within Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
