Duties

• Independently leads and performs the full range of cleaning duties in an assigned building or other area.
• Set the pace of work performance for custodial staff.
• Monitor safety and department rules to ensure safe and orderly workplace for employees.
• Require the physical ability to handle and control powered equipment and perform user maintenance.
• Clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common custodial, janitorial, and housekeeping activities within a large hospital setting. I am skilled in loading supply carts and ensuring that adequate cleaning materials and equipment are available to do the job. Cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires continuous standing and walking, with frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting. Regularly lifts and carries items up to about 18 kilograms (40 pounds) and occasionally lifts heavier items over 23 kilograms (50 pounds). Uses ladders and moves heavy cleaning equipment and furniture in the performance of duties. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors in areas with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. The worker is regularly exposed to vibration from heavy cleaning equipment and to skin-irritating cleaning chemicals used for stripping and disinfecting. Care must be taken to avoid injury when using ladders, handling industrial powered equipment, or working in areas with biological hazards, contaminated waste, and strong disinfectants.
